Audiocodec DSP Group TrueSpeech Audio Codec 1.1.1.5
The unzipped file has to be put into the directory “C:WINDOWSsystem32”. Then the codec is installed!

The codec is sitting in my System32 folder but the installation is not occuring since the product is not tested by Microsoft. This is the error message I keep getting and I am so irritted with not being able to get this installation done.

Anyone has any better ideas/suggestions/etc............would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Installation of TrueSpeech Codec for WMP 11 on Windows Vista

TrueSpeech shipped with prior versions of WMP from Win95 through WinXP. Stripping out the old codec files from WinXP and using them in Vista seems to work.

Option 1
The DSP codec can be installed on Vista using the following procedure:
1. Acquire tssoft32.acm and tsd32.dll (can be easily found by searching for them online)
2. Open the Windows\System32 directory
3. If tssoft32.acm is present, rename it tssoft32_old.acm. Either way, proceed to the next step
4. Place tssoft32.acm and tsd32.dll into the Windows\System32 directory
5. Create the following registry entry:
a. Folder (you may need to create some of these folders: KEY_CURRENT_CONFIG>Software\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\Drivers32\msacm.trspch
b. Set REG_SZ value to: tssoft32.acm
c. No need to reboot, just close regedit
6. You can verify that the codec installed correctly by going to WMP 11\Help and clicking on “Technical Support Information”. A webpage will open listing all the codecs installed. If tssoft32.acm is listed, you’re set!
7. Fire everybody involved with not helping you solve this problem!

Option 2
Alternatively, you can go to http://www.dspg.com/technology/players/tsply95.zip and save the file to your hard-drive. Then, install the TrueSpeech Player. It’s for Windows 95, but will work on Vista…albeit a pain to use.
