I have media player 10, and installed a codec pack which made the video lag for some reason. I uninstalled it and now Media Player wont play my DVD movies?

This is what it says:

Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. Open Display in Control Panel, and then lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. To view the DVD Troubleshooter, click More Information.???

I reinstalled the codec pack from Microsoft, nothing. Also tried Nimo Codec Pack, still nothing. It plays avi.,xVid, Divx and everything else fine. But not my DVDs? Some please help.

Thanks

Microsoft’s codec pack doesn’t contain an mpeg-2 decoder! Chances are the original codec pack you installed had an mpeg-2 decoder in it, and you removed it.
Anyway for mpeg-2 playback you have several options:
1. a player like media player classic or videolan
2. a decoder (that’s likely what came in your original codec pack) like the elecard decoder (not free anymore)
3. dvd software like windvd or powerdvd (these are usually pay)

Also, did you try the suggestion recommended by the troubleshooter (lowering your screen resolution and color depth)?
