problem with mp3 player 256MB

once my sony mp3 player was infected with virus and afterwards i formatted it.
after that date, i was unable to play any sort of mp3 item over it. computer detects it. it turn on too but mentions “no file” on screen.
currently it is just working as a USB flash drive.

tell me whether its software issue or some thing else. what i have to do for that,????
