Regular Rep: 6 Joined: 20 Nov 2004 Posts: 1,284 | You’re probably using version 2.55.014 of the install. It was designed for Windows 95/98 and won’t work on full 32-bit platforms like Windows 2000 or XP.
Get version 2.55.016 from the Intel web site, and it should work.

CMB72 Guest | Hi, I hope someone here can help me?
I’m on Win XP (SP1) and I tried to install the old I263 and of course it failed. I didn’t know there was a new one and I haven’t tried it yet.
Here’s my problem, I tried to install I263 from one of my old CDR’s. Now every time I try to play a quick time movie or open my quick time player I get an error message. I didn’t write it down but it was an error launching quicktime.exe and no disk in drive K, the drive I tried to install the codec from.
The only things I’ve tried so far are re-installing QT and Win restore, both failed to fix the problem. I’m thinking the failed install might have left a reg. entry that is some how pointing quick time to where the exe. file was.
If anyone is having this problem or knows how to fix it please respond or you can e-mail me at chrisb72@webtv.net

labish Guest | cmb why don’t you try to update to SP2? This is going to fix a lot of stuff.I can not give you a link because Microcheap asks me to use IE and I’m on Opera.Just Google Windows XP Service Pack 2 and download it.There we go I got one: http://www.soft32.com/download_992.html

This has nothing to do with i.263. That’s a crappy bug with QuickTime. It tries to locate all the files in its most recent files list and if it’s from a removable media and the media isn’t there, it’ll give you that annoying message FOR EVERY FILE. Open QuickTime. Go to file, open recent, and click clear menu. Close QuickTime and when you restart it the messages should be gone. And in the future avoid playing quicktime files off of cd’s.

CMB72 Guest | For the person that responded to my question with “clear Menu” I just wanted to give you a big THANKS!! I know it’s been a long time but at the time I didn’t think it would work because I didn’t play a movie from drive K, I tried to install the codec from drive K. At the same time I had a personal crisis and just put the quick time thing out of my mind.
Tonight I tried it and it worked!! The first time I cleared it I got the error message again. I checked and there was nothing there but I cleared it again anyway, it took forever and froze but now everything works GREAT!!
