i have looked on download.com and it comes up with NO RESULTS for mpeg splitters

I presume by “splitter” you mean you want a tool to cut and merge mpeg files. I think TMPGEnc will suit your needs. You can get the free version at tmpgenc.net (not .com, that’s the pay version). Go to file, mpeg tools, then click on the merge and cut tab. Then I think from there the menu’s pretty intuitive.
