I’m not very familiar with the KVCD format, but you might want to check their site for compatibility.

(I presume you’re trying to play it in a standalone dvd player and aren’t getting an image, unless you mean your dvd drive?)

NO YOU DO NOT NEED TO CONVERT THEM
FIRST OFF IF YOU YOU BURNED IT TO DVD, THATS YOUR PROBLEM.
YOU BURN JUST THE IMAGE, SELECT THE CUE FILE AND WRITE IT ONTO A CD-R.......
THAT SHOULD WORK!

KVCD absolutely sucks but a lot of people are creating video in that format. To convert a regular .DAT file to AVI, I always used to simply unhide the file extensions in Folder Options -> View tab and then change the extension from DAT to AVI. Always worked but won’t if it is a goofy KVCD.

Anyone know how to successfully convert a KVCD to AVI or MPEG? Nero will not do it, DVD Santa will not do it! I have no interest in burning any vcd format to cdr. CDR’s are more expensive than DVDR’s now because the marketer’s are trying to force CDR off the market. That is why computers usualy come with DVD Burners. CDR technology is obsolete! Even PC Games come on DVD’s now. Who wants to insert the next disc to continue to install when the entire game can be placed on 1 DVD!

@ ReSInX.

KVCD should have the file extension of MPG. IIRC the chinese or somewhere over there developed it n it similiar 2 our SVCD. U should b able 2 load this in Virtualdub MPEG2 2 convert 2 AVI or Tmpgenc or Mainconcept 2 convert 2 a compliant DVD MPEG 1/2. Load the file in avicodec or Virtualdub MPEG2. I hope this xplaination would help.

If correct, you downloaded it as bin/cue files. In nero you have to select burn image and then select the file. Then you won’t have any problems burning it to CD(only CD, not DVD)

The subject of KVCD to AVI can not be reconverted back BUT if you own a CHIPED MICROSOFT XBOX you then can reload it on to your xbox useing FLASHFXP.V3 software then you can play all your KVCD movies throu your hifi and watch them on the big sreen. I hope this helps.
