playing xvid files for mac?

hi,

if anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated.

i have some tv shows that i think are xvid files. they are each broken up into 25 files.

the first file ending in dsr.xvid.iht.nfo

then, they progress from dsr.xvid.iht.r00 to dsr.xvid.iht.r23

the last two files end in 106.dsr.xvid.iht.rar, and 106.dsr.xvid.iht.sfv

i’ve tried to open the files on quicktime, mplayer, itunes and vlc.

is it possible to play these on a mac? i have a power pc running tiger.

ok,

i opened the rar file in stuffit expander, and an avi of the show was created. success.

Argh! You answered your own question before I got to it. But yeah, anything that can open rar files (including stuffit) will open .rar .r00 .r01 .r02 etc. That was the old way of splitting rar archives. Nowadays they use .part01.rar .part02.rar etc. instead so as to have a single extension (rar).
As for the .nfo file it’s usually a text file which you can open with any text editor (I don’t know what the default one for Macs is).
When you get the xvid-encoded avi, you can play it with an all-in-one player like VLC or MPlayer OS X. Another way would be to get the xvid plugin for QuickTime here and you can play the file in QuickTime Player.
