ULead DVD Burn

Hi Ive burned a dvd disc once, using 6 small 1 to 3 minute files and it worked. Was able to play it on one dvd player in house but not the other. I created that as 6 individual files and used batch convert.

Then I tried the other nite to burn 2 large files(avi0 converted them as 'Make Movie'. this created 1 file, but for some reason the first half (file one originally) had sound only, no picture. File 2 was fine in new file. however, when I went thru the process, and burned to DVD it would not play. When I put DVD in PC DVD player, its says the disc is blank. Any ideas where i went qwrong in each stage?
