Great Forum! - and everyone who is answering here has a lot of patience, thank you. So far, the application VCD Gear has been so much help!

I notice a lot of people here are trying to use VCD and not setting up the application correctly. By default, it will open up with the setting: cue/bin -> mpeg
Try to change settings to bin -> mpeg and see if this will work. It will depend upon you bin file.

Again- Great Forum and thank you for all who contribute here.

Happy New Year...

hi Guys and Gals - got a problem. i dowloaded a movie in .bin format but no cue file came with it so i couldnt burn it to cd so as to watch it on the dvd player (reads divx/xvid). i tried using 'Bin to ISO Converter 2.0' which turned it into a winrar folder. i burnt that as an image disc using nero but the dvd player still won’t recognise it, and neither will the pc. any solutions as to how i can turn it into an AVI file? thnkx a bunch

VCDGear is the best program for converting .bin files to a better format. I’ve found that the vlanPlayer was never a very good viewer for watching videos. I much prefer Windows Media Player. I gotta say thanks to all you who gave hints to other peeps, cause I got a lot of info from it...THANKS!!!

ive got no problem with convertin bin. to cue., my real problem is finding a decent avi. to mpeg. converter, that dosn’t take ages to convert the files, because all the programs if tried take ages. can anyone out there recommend a piece of software that can simply convert avi. to mpeg. quickly.

im not expecting this process to take a few minutes, but it would be nice to be able to convert avi. to mpeg. in something like 1 hour a half to 2 hours and a half. if anyone could help me i would be greatly appreitiated...

cheers

i’ve downloaded a bin file which works in vlc player but i have to change the audio track to hear the sound and it won’t play all of the dvd. i can skip through the file and get to the credits but i can’t watch it to the end and lose about an hour. apparently it has some restriction on it which limits play length to 55 minutes. i’ve tried isobuster and servant salamander to try and extract/convert the files but to no avail. just tried vcdgear but it is stuck searching for the file i want to convert. what can i do? and the file is on an external hard drive just incase it makes any difference, but it shouldn’t.

your dvd player will not play of those formats..you need a Divx dvd player....you need to convert the files to vob and burn them to dvd before they will play on your dvd player...one of the best progs to convert Divex,Xvid, mpeg e.c.t is winavi...as for the bin/cue files you can convert them to mpeg using vcdgear

hi
i have done all the below but still having no luck. there are no files that end in any of the configs mentioned an example of my files is
: saga.sleven.cd1.part01 : but it says its a rar file..

any more help??

many thanx

big_mac wrote: You need an un-rar program. Think of .RAR files like ZIP files. People will almost always mention WinZIP or WinRar or something like that. I will tell you of a great freeware unZIP, unRAR, un-anything program. It is called ZipGenius:

http://www.zipgenius.it/index_eng.htm

If you install it, it wil become your unZIp program too. But it works just fine.

Now, those rar files. You right click on one and it unRARs them all (puts them together vto make your AVI file or whatever it was, maybe bin and cue).

If the RAR files start with a filename.r00 (ends in .R00), there will be one file in the bunch that ends in .RAR . That’s the one you right click and use your unRAR program to unRAR.

But if the RAR files start in filename.R01 (and not .R00)there probably will not be a file that ends in .RAR, and in this case you unRAR that file that ends in filename.R01.
