I’m running a AMD 996Mhz with 128 MB SDram.
I no longer re-encode files (takes way too long), I just play AVIs on Xbox.

NRen2k5 Guest | I’m running TMPGenc on a PIII-733 and with necessary quality enhancements turned on, it takes me roughly 20 hours to encode 1 hour of video.

Nick Guest | Thanks does anyone know any software I can download to do it besides TMPGenc.

You could try MainConcept. That’s suppose to be fast, but not nearly as good quality as TMPGEnc or CCE.
CCE and MainConcept are not freeware programs.

Another is AVI2VC

AVI to MPEG1 conversion does take some time though. This is normal.
Now, although MainConcept isn’t freeware (since if you use the free version it’ll leave a watermark on the image/video), it is FAST, compared to other encoders. I would hasten to add that it’s faster because the quality isn’t as high as if you were to use TMPGEnc.
