I have WMP9 installed, but I use MPC to play most of my vids. I have VLC but I don’t like to use that program. I used Gspot to determine that I’m missing MPEG1 video codec. However, I have Windows XP SP2 installed and by default it’s supposed to install a MPEG1 decoder. I suppose somehow that file has been deleted.

I was wondering if anyone knew the filename for the MPEG1 decoder or where I can download this codec?

Also, Gspot tells me that I’m missing older version of WMV codecs.

MPEG-1 decoding does come bundled with Windows (since 95). If you accidentally deleted it, you can get it back by reinstalling DirectX. (Ironically it’s NOT bundled with most versions of Windows Media Player.)
The latest version of DirectX 9.0c (November 2007 release) can be downloaded here

That’s very vague. Can you post the specific error message from gspot?
Most Windows Media codecs are bundled in Windows Media Player, which you can download here.
