I recently purchased the sims 2 and after isntallation i try to load the game and get the message ' cd/dvd emulation software has been detected, please disable all cd/dvd emulation software and restart game.' I have made sure there is no burning capable software on my computer and that my anitivirus screens are disabled. What is causing this, does anyone have a solution for me??? Nicki

Nicki, hard for me to answer if you reckon you have no copying software on your pc but you do not appear to have received any other replies. If your problem still exists may I suggest that you type the exact message you are receiving in to Google and that will lead you to a plethora of expert advice. Just sorted the same kind of problem out for a friend of my son by doing this. Good luck with it.

i had the same prob with sim2 only software writing program will cause this error.. you did
say the you had nero .. did you uninstall it OR
did you simply delete the folder.. go into add new
software and see if it’s still there.. also go to
rgedit and do a find for nero or any other third party software..lastly dont forget to disable virus prog.. and other software running in the background..

Good luck

cd emulation software is not burning software.
its like alcohol 120%, or daemon tools. a Virtual cd emulation. could try www.gamecopyworld.com for a no cd crack. this should bypass any cd checking software

cd/dvd emulation software is where you load pc games, but not using a cd. for example downloading the game from the internet illegally. search for it on www.google.com and you will find the answer on there

I also had the same problem with Sims 2 but have now fixed the problem. If you have clone cd you need to untick the Hide CDR media and it should work. If you have nero 6 and have installed the image drive which is a virtual drive you need to disable that. You will know if you have the virtual drive as there will be other letters besides the removable drives you have. Nero 6 will not automatically install the image drive you need to do this manually.
If you want to disable it you can do so by
Go to ´Start — > All Programs — > Nero — > Nero 6 — > Nero ImageDrive´ and when the Nero ImageDrive utility launches select 'Disable Nero ImageDrive' from the bottom left of the window.

I hope this helps.

I just had the same problem with Black and White 2
Uninstalling Virtual Game Drive didn’t work. Also tried the thing with the device manager to disable the virtual drives before uninstall. That didn’t work either.

Ok... everyone, listen up! I have an answer... well... one that worked for me. I installed the new FIFA 06 Soccer game and I ran into the same problem everyone else had. I worked on it by uninstalling all my copying software, like DVD Decryter, SlyFox, Clone CD. I still have Roxio Media 7.5 installed... so this was NOT the problem. And you know what? It worked. Case closed.

I have been pulling my hair out for about 2 days over this after reinstalling the Sims 2 to discover this wonderful piece of EA coding!

I uninstalled Nero and Daemon Tools (the only 2 pieces of emulation software I thought I had), and thought that should do the trick. Most FAQs say that all you need to do is unmount and disable the virtual drives, but that is wrong.

In the end, I finally managed to get the game loading by doing a stab-in-the-dark search for “clonecd” in my registry, which found one entry from what must have been years ago when I installed it (and since got rid and forgot about it). I deleted that one entry, and hey presto.
