Windows Media player 10 will not play certain avi files previously playable on rev9

I have several files that I cannot play on Win media player 10. Message is:
'sending request for codec'
'error downloading codec'
I have checked this using 'avi codec’program and get the following analysis:
Video : 10.2 MB, 8408 Kbps, 8.0 fps, 632*504 (4:3), CRAM = Unknown, Unsupported

or, on the other files:
Video : 3.48 MB, 3640 Kbps, 5.0 fps, 923*705 (4:3), RLE = Microsoft RLE, Unsupported

where do I get these codecs?
