.avi fine on pc but not in dvd player

Havent seen any info on this exact problem.

After burning 4 movies that are .avi files to a single DVD, the audio plays fine but the video shows maybe a frame per second. I have recorded several .avi files to DVD and they play fine, so it is not a matter of my DVD player not being compatible.

I really dont want to convert the format out of avi because of space issues & also because my pc is almost a boat anchor in the speed department.... when the pc slows down then the video quality goes down.

BTW both the original file & the DVD disk play fine on my computer, just not in any of my DVD players.
