how to play .cda extension video file in pc

i have a movie cd with .cda extension

i am able to play the movie properly in my vcd player but when i am trying to play it on my pc
i can’t play bec the file is with .cda file extension.



plz can any one provide me with a solution to this problem

.cda are the audio track entries, not the video, use WinDVD or PowerDVD

hi,
would just like to know if you managed to get it going? i have same problem ...one file with cda extension and it is actually a video file but pc shows it as a cda audio file. nothing i have tried works. have looked around the net but only things i find is a few others with same problem but no idea how to convert or play it lol. would be grateful if you could tell me if you managed to get it working or converted...thanks

I have been at the game for a long time, I would try changing the file extension, you would be surprised how many times just renaming the file extension will work, make it a .mpg first if it still don’t play then .avi, you get the idea? I bet $100 USD it works if you make it a .mpg

hi,
i have tried to rename but media players will still not play it and tried different conversion programs to lots of different formats but all say that they can’t do it they don’t understand the format. the file was recorded on tv with a dvd recorder and i just want to edit it a little to take out ad’s but can’t even get any programs to recognise it before or after renaming. would appreciate any suggestions but don’t hold out any hope of being able to do what i want with the file lol. but thanks for the suggestions.

have you tried downloading more codec’s ? i have had a problem for audio on vcd’s and dvd’s and i found updated codec’s or new ones help. nimo codec usually works for me and it’s free.

I have had the same problem. I actually recorded the CD on my own machine from various discs of music. Windows gave it the cda (CD AUDIO)extension, but won’t play it. If this file extension is not useable, where does it come from and why is it even in use?

I would like to offer this, to help with issues that may not be the same as mine. First, go the control panel and open “folder options”. Look at the “File Types” tab and look at cab files. Hit advanced and make sure the system PLAYS the file. Then, another solution, if you are having a problem playing music that you copied to your HD, that are .cda and won’t play.... make sure you actually copied the whole file, as it seems that sometimes, when you copy music from disc to HD, you only get the initial “open file” code. So, you won’t be able to open it because the file is not there.

I have just discovered the RIP function in the Media Player. With that function I was able to rip (copy) to the library (or other location) and play back the file. Check it out.

Yep, Media player works ( even thought I hate it ) but it works if you copy the traxs.

the audio cd when i copied to my system its copied but only the track nanes are copied with an icon. the audio tracks hardly shows in kb size and this files can not be played at all. because it will copy to ur system in full lenth. where as you can make an exact cd are clone it it can be payed in any media system player. it is immpossible to play file copied to ur system.

i’m using Windows ME and i’ve read an article saying that it can be play if your system supports it .SYS and MSCDEX

for coping or playing .cda extention video files
eighter u use vcd player software or capture through capture card(then it records in ur sytem
as .mpg) incase of audio with.cda extn there is no otherway u have to put the cd in your cd player and use the audiograbber software while playing it records to ur sytem in mp3 format. u have option to record in any other format of ur choices.available at download.com

CDA files appear whenever you look at a music CD in your computer. These are like shortcuts to the actually music files. An index if you like. They are generally 1Kb in size and contain NO DATA.

I just checked out Windows Media Player 10.... you can “rip” the cd to mp3 files and then download onto portable player... thanks nonigirl it works great (and yes I HATE Windows Media Player but in this case... its not bad!)

We can copy the .cda files from an audio CD thru Windows media player’s rip(Copy) option. not even windows media player’s version 10 is needed, even the function works in version8.0

inorder to know how to use it, insert the CD and then go to media players, file menu..copy..copy from audia player..select the song and then click copy music. it copies to ur music library in .wmv format and it plays !!

Look for a program called WaveLab and install it.
Put your cd with cda extensions in your cd rom then go to “Tools” (in WaveLab) and “Import audio cd tracks”. When the tracks apear choose one or several or all of them and in “Destination folder” choose where you want to save it and below, in what format (Wav or Mp3). Then hit save. The track or tracks will be saved at high speed and with the extension .wav or .mp3. Then you´ll be able to hear it in any player or to save it in a cd and play it in your car or anywhere.
