Keep in mind that you’ll need the computer that plays the resulting file to have MPEG-2 decoding capabilities (if you’re doing the presentation on another computer).
Get TMPGEnc (it’s freeware) from http://www.tmpgenc.net (click on downloads at the top after you select your language). Open TMPGEnc, skip the wizard. Click on File, MPEG Tools.
Go to the merge & cut tab. I think for type you can pick MPEG-2 (Program). Then click add and pick your file. Select it on the list at the left and click edit. Then you can move the bar at the bottom to navigate through the movie. At the bottom right the left curly bracket { is used to set the startpoint. The right curly bracket } is used to set the endpoint. The double arrow thingies are used to step frame by frame for more accurate splitting.
When you’re done click ok, type an output name and click run.
If you’re not 100% certain the end computer will be able to play an MPEG-2 file, just convert this one to MPEG-1 just in case (nearly all computers can play MPEG-1). Get back to us if you need help on how to do this.
