I have samsung DVD burner SATA Model # SH-S183L and it wont read disks. HELP PLEASE =)

I have the samsung dvd burner model # SH-S183L and everything on it works fine on my computer except for when you try to open the DVD drive and explore files on the disk, it says the disk is empty and asks to reformat it. If I do a search on my computer for a file I know is on the disk it will pull it up in the search results list. Why isn’t my dvd burner drive recognizing data and showing me what is on the disk? Please help. I have gone to samsung’s web page and downloaded all versions of the model’s driver firmware updates and it still didn’t help. =(

Also I have Windows Vista Business Edition. I hope that isn’t what is causing my DVD burner to not recognize disks with data on them. I am at my witts end with it. Ugh. Thanks for reading this and have a nice weekend. =D
