I have an AVI that has no sound when played in DivX Player. If I use WMP or VLC the sound is fine. Video Inspector lists the codec as “MPEG 1 or 2 Audio Layer 3 (MP3)" and says it’s installed.

I’ve checked all my settings and it won’t play the sound. Any ideas on why DivX won’t recognize the codec.

OS: Vista
DivX Player: 6.4.3
DivX Codec: 6.6.1
VLC: 0.8.6c
WMP: 11

If it says nothing for Video (it just says MPEG layer 3, which is just audio), chances are it’s just an audio file. Sometimes people rename their mp3’s avi. (maybe to dodge the RIAA?)

It really is a video file. The video plays fine, but I just don’t have any sound in DivX Player. I only get the sound with the video when I use other players.
