Zanthanee Guest | I used the codec installer utility available at:
http://www.jockersoft.com/english/codecinstaller.php
I then searched, found and reset the priority on the nero filter for video thumbnails to " do not use”
No problrms now | |

JOeyE Guest | I was having the same problem with video from my digital camera (to the point I couldn’t even click the folder which they were in without Windows DEP popping up and then crashing Explorer.)
I too uninstalled Xvid and problem solved!

...THIS SAME FIX ALSO WORKS WITH ERRORS CAUSED WITH THE FILE CALLED .. xvid.ax
Removed the file and it’s all fixed.
Seemed like the other methods didn’t work for me, then found that file and it solved everything.
Never expected that to cause my computer to go haywire.
Thanks for the info! | |

Mjrbrat Guest | My gripe: Windows explorer would crash every time I tried to open a media file. It was extremely annoying. I tried all the suggestions above, and it was the simplest one that worked. I got rid of the Xvid codec and now I can browse my media files freely.
Thank you for the tip!!!!
