Anyone trying with winamp nsvs?

If anyone finds a way to do that check, it' be a really good breakthrough, cuz winamp.com’s nsvs are really high quality vids.

Sad that I’ve got a 400 mb odd collection now and cant even have them on vcds. All of the others are converting their collection to avi’s and I’m left in this hell.

PleasE?

See, I’ll tell you what my problem is: -

Winamp has its vids on winamp.com

They’re really high quality ones.

I download 49 vids from the site using coolbeans http://webpages.charter.net/veblin/CoolBeans_10b.zip .

I find I’m unable to convert any of the nsv into avi using nsv_demux.exe or nsv cutter. I find nospoon’s referre link. That converts each of the nsvs with different consequences.

Some of them are: -
(1) The conversion is done 100% but the command line program suggests that its position at 100% is 18 seconds. The file doesnt play in winamp or windows meia play, an wmp offers to download codecs.

(2) The file doesnt play at all anywhere, even though its conversion seems to be perfect.

Should I check my divx codec?

Did so on 50 Cent’s “Candyshop” and RHCP’s “by the way'.

Result : Failed

From the initial few posts; it seems that the header of winamp nsv is made in such a way that it

can only be played from a server. When its downloaded thru coolbeans, i guess that header is

removed and so the problem on mencoder.

The output on the dos screen using default options set through Mikkonsv:

- - - - - - - - - - -
Detected Cacheline size is 32 bytes
blah blah blah
File not found: 'frameno.avi'
Failed to open frameno.avi
blahblahblah
Nullsoft Streaming Video Detected
VIDEO: [VP50] 320x240 24bpp 137.00 fps 0.0 kbps < 0.0 kbytes/s>
blah blah blah

Cannot find codec for audio format 0x20424c56

blah blah blah

Selected vieo codec: [Vp5] vfm:vfwex <on2 VP5 personal codec>

writing avi header...
ODML: Aspect information not <yet?> available or unspecifie, not writing vprp header

New Face Failed, maybe the font path is wrong

- - - - - - - - - -

So I changed the command line parameters to: -

mencoder.exe “C:\nsv100\btw.nsv” -ovc raw -idx -aspect 4:3 -fps 20 -lavcopts

vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=2000 -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=standard -noodml -o

“C:\nsv100\bytheway.avi”

-idx was related with overwriting corrupted avi headers, so I used it.
vprp header is i guess related to aspect ratio, so that was mentioned. Raw video output felt the

simplest way to output a heavily encoded video; so I used raw encoding instead of raw encoding.

(Result: MPEG4 encoding is tottaly unrecognize in TMPGemc, while raw encoding is recognizeable

although only the first frame can be manipulated). Others are not such a problem I guess.

The resultant output has less of the above errors, although the file can still not be played.

I guess now I’ve finally made my problem clear. Any helpers?

I dont think so. A lot of people have got away with converting their vp6 stuff. A lot of them are still stuck with vp5, like me.

thanks for posting a reply to my posting. I have done the updates for codecs, but when I installed the latest winamp I don’t get the shoutcast TV or radio channels anymore. I did read somewhere that is take a few moments for shoutcast to appear in Winamp 5.2 but I don’t know how long that “few moments” is smiley sad because I can’t get shoutcast to show after many trials.

SO I went back to the last one that I had. I found a way in Streamripper to capture the whole 16 or whatever number of episodes. It is in the Options>>File tab, cancel the single file rip and check the one below it. That would rip the whole series in one single file and create a .cue file too. That file is not necessary if you keep the main file as .nsv .

My problem still perisists because those series are not online anymore and my .nsv files don’t playback in winamp 5.13. I’m saying it again, I HAVE UPDATED MY CODECS. sad

great work by Mikko Hollmén Olesen, though.

hey “Gameds” how big is your 50 cent/Candyshop .nsv file? the file ext is .nsv right? if so and if u wanted u could slide me the file and i’ll try and convert it to .avi on my rig(since i had success converting my .nsv’s).
if it works then we’ll try n see what config & codec differences i have compared to yours and go from there.

u got yahoo or msn mess? let me know.

just a suggestion/offer.

Not much, the file is 3.9 mb or something like that. Well I guess there is no need for that; you can download any file from winamp’s site winamp.com where you search for videos (not other shoutcast nsv files) and check if that works...

Were all of your nsvs from winamp.com or shoutcast? I’m really interested in winamp.com nsvs.

Hey, check out page no. 4 of this thread. I’ve tried making the .inf file mentioned over there to install vp5 so that I could convert my nsv using traditional software like TMpgenc. The vp5 driver didnt install properly. I guess if you could find a way to install it properly; I could convert my nsvs easily.

I’ve got Yahoo

Hey, can you set an update to your vp5vfw.inf file which you mentioned on the page number 4 of this thread? It doesnt install on windows xp, what should I do? Is it designed to run on only win 98?

I found that the sample vp3 nsvs available at nullsoft.com/nsv can be demuxed by using nsv_demux but not by mikkonsv on my pc.

This means two things:-
(1.) my pc has no problems with nsv_demux. The reason why it cant demux winamp.com’s nsv files are that they are encoded in vp5. The sample files are encoded in vp3, which is installed on my pc. vp5 isnt installed on the pc; although I’ve got the codec’s dll. I tried IM-MING’s installer, but it wont work.

(2) Since Mikko NSV has problems with both the vp3 and vp5 codecs, it means the default command line program for mencoder doesnt work on my pc. A few tweaks would get me through I guess.

So, Pootie Tang, if you’re able to demux and use mikkonsv on “A typical nullsoft meeting.nsv” at nullsoft.com/nsv http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/samples/typical%20nullsoft%20meeting.nsv that means there is some problem with my own config, and I need ur help early. Thanks anyways!

I’m trying to put in all help to my helpers, so that I can get out of this quicksand asap, right now I have nothing on my mind (not even my girlfriend!) except nsv’s and avi’s.

I am drowning. I Cant breathe! PLEASE, Help!

To Stuck,

It seems you are using command line programs for the first time. Such programs dont have a GUI, i.e. for simplicity’s sake, they dont come with an interface with menus and icons. You just need to type in commands. Read the readme. Also, search through the thread for another some posts like you, there was another newbie enthusiast like you caught in the traps of GUI-CUI Confusion.

Simple thing: -

Click Start->Run

Type in C:\coolbeans http://url.nsv

getting the url is your job, do some research, you’ll be able to do it easily. Make sure that the file coolbeans in the root folder of C drive, i.e. the folder which appears when you doble click C: in my computer.

Hey Gameds, thanks for the reply but i still cant figure it out. I saw a post a page back about a guy asking the same thing but no one answered his question.

Well, i put the coolbeans program into C:\coolbeans and i did what you told me to do. Go to Start->Run
Then i typed in something like
C:/coolbeans http://nsv.stream.aol.com/uvox?cachefile=/aol/us/aolmusic/artists/wmg/various/harrypottergobletoffire/various_harrypottergobletoffire_lp_01_64.nsa

in the “run” window and all it does is opens up the C:\coolbeans Folder
Am i suppose to use the command -d at the end of the .nsv url? i tried it but it does the same thing...

Don’t know whats wrong with it. See, rename the coolbeans folder to something else, and put only coolbeans.exe (rename the program to this if its something else - dont enter the extension in the rename window though); an then maybe you’d be able to do this.

For example,
C:\coolbeans http://nsv.stream.aol.com/uvox?cachefile=/aol/us/aolmusic/artists/sony/ildivo/ildivo_regresaami_unbreakmyheart_yfgdcfgc_350.nsv

This starts a nice little download for me, wont be hard, keep trying.

hey dudes, can some1 tell me where to get coolbeans 1.1??? cause you can’t use streamripper on winamp.com for some reason...

and for nsv curious, umm well i dont know what is the problem with shoutcast with you, but just double click on online services, in media player, and wait about 10 sec max, and then its there.

P.S also im new to cool beans, so how did you get that url for 50 cent candy shop?

p.p.s im still nospoon , just i went to register and the email hasn’t come through yet, so i had to put a 1 on the end

this for the post at the top about the nulsoft gathering thing, its your mpeg4 codec, your need ffdshow, with this you can pretty much play anything.

here’s the link:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=1488&s=50

that should make the avi of the nulsoft guys work, with defult settings

I dont think I’d require FFDShow, I just used an additional tag -ffource divx or something like that, and I get a divx vieo.

Getting the url: -

Select any video on winamp.com; right click on either the 128 kbps or 300 kbps icon and click save as. Open the file in notepad, and you’ll have the url - replace the unsv by http

By The Way, I’m Downloadinf FFDShow for backup. What Commandline exactly should I use to involve FFShow?

Can you give me an example (of FFDShow)? Something like a full fledge command line that was actually used?

Hi! created a cool little batch file for NSVD.exe if anyone wants to use it smiley

just paste all the text bellow into notepad and save as NSVD.bat and as long as you have the NSVD file in the same directory as the file you want to make into an avi, it works alright.

some one can probably make it better, but I thought id post it as it is useful to me smiley

Later!
