I hope you folks know that it’s illegal to download those files. But, for the sake of research, I’ll tell you that it’s all set in the headers. I have seen it done somewhere before (I don’t remember where) where someone set up a normal HTTP server to host the supposedly “corrupted” NSV files from AOL with the proper headers (Content-Type: misc/ultravox), and it played correctly.

Hi,

just wanted to say that you can use the “Add to Playlist” Feature at the Winamp.com Page. Open the resulting .pls file in notepad and there you go, all the URLs of you favourit clips in one file.

greetings

No way... the same problem happens if you put it on the IIS.

Ther is a way to remove exces bytes from NSV directly ripped from ste server. It is encoded using ultravox3 protocol.

The ultravox frame:

1.byte: 0x5a
2.byte: reserved
3. and 4.byte: class & type
4. and 5 byte: payload length (0 to 65535)
5+. bytes: payload
5+length+1: 0x00 = end byte

If you remove those frames, and leave only payload the nsv file will work localy smiley

I got WWE Royal Rumble 2006, in 6 parts as an NSV, how can I convert it to MPEG-1 to burn to disk, I tried using NSV Demuxer and AVI-Mux, but the results sucked, because they cut short for some reason, any way how?

Hi all,
I have been reading this forum for a while (as my time allows) in search of being able to playback .nsv files from Shoutcast TV channel. I have just downloaded all the tools necessary to convert .nsv to .avi or .mpg formats. But I have a different problem which I have not seen in this forum yet.

I have downloaded many nsv files, using wonderful Streamripper. Any single file of documentaries or any other TV shows or programs plays back within Winamp 5.13, but my problem is the Korean and the Japanese mini series smiley wink. My friend and I love these drama series.

They are usually 10-16 episodes long. After continuous downloading of the episodes, and the short “aznv.tv INTRO” segments (files) between episodes through Winamp’s Shoutcast, the early episodes variably play in Winamp but the later ones don’t play and give an error and directs the user to send an error message to Microsoft for incompatibility issues. I have reinstalled Winamp 5.13 three times and the same error still happens. I haven’t got any response from Null-soft (Winamp makers) yet.

I must emphsize that dloading these series is not easy. I have had to wait a long time FIRST to get into the very narrow bandwidth and SECOND to leave my computer running literally for a day to capture all the episodes from aznv.tv via winamp. They are sub-titled and wonderful for family viewing, so they make the wait worthwhile.

I remember reading some postings by Steve-NSV regarding the codes in some files before they can be played back.

So this problem makes my goal even harder (to change the format of these series' file to stand-alone files in other formats and then joining them into one long file as a DVD. I don’t know and haven’t seen (on the net) any editing programs to recognize the .nsv files and to be able to join them.

Is there anyone who can help me with the Shoutcast 's nsv series files and editing them.

Many thanks to the contributor to this unique forum on nsv format.

nsv-curious smiley

Hi all,

It’s nice to see so much interest in the NSV format. It’s even nicer to see this thread is still here. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been very busy with school and work. Hopefully I’ll find time now and then to play with NSV some more.

Recently, I’ve gotten hooked on a new and fascinating interest - high definition TV broadcasts. I bought a DVICO FusionHDTV 5 Lite ATSC tuner card for my computer, and I’ve been watching and recording my local digital broadcasts. The quality is unbelievable, especially for my local CBS station which broadcasts in 1080i. NSV can wait while I enjoy “24” in high definition... :-)

Hi!

Done all the things with the downloading, and my 45 odd downloaded nsvs work pretty fine, an they’ve all got acceptable video quality. I fancy converting them into a vc, that’d be handy.

But there’s this onething that comes into my way, the nsvs that are downloaded off winamp.com thru coolbeans, have VP5 video. Sadly, VP5 decoder isnt available anywhere on the net. Is there a way to decode the nsvs into vp50. Anyone? Please? Any Help? I’m growing desperate about this... Anybody got a VP50 decoder?

I dont know how to use kaazaa or efnet or such, can anyone search on such p2p networks and mail me when yuo find vp50 decoder? VP60 and VP70 are freely available on on2.com but those crazy ms like ppl have removed vp50 from their downloads site, probably at nullsoft’s request....

hey, This is to nsv-curious, the fat ass post.
good for you for waiting so long to download them. But to the answer to your problem, Probably because you have an older codec, i suggest getting the latest winamp, v5.21 and that should come with the new codec, otherwise you will need a vp6 codec
here’s the link (man im so nice to people) http://www.free-codecs.com/download/VP6.htm

Now for converting the nsv to avi, so you can use, lets say nero-vision to create the dvd

i like to use this site: it goes into detail about it.

http://www.hollmen.dk/articles/nsvtoavi.htm

now there is just one thing that i need to tell you before u go converting, READ THIS!!!
if your nsv=bad quality then when you convert it the avi will be fuked so sorry.

i think that just about answers all your questions, so until next time

NOSpoon, please read on.

Thanks for all that help man! You’re such a nice little chocky guy!

Read On!

See, I dont think there’s much problem in converting nsvs that have VP6 encoding. Do you know why? Because VP6 decoders are supplied freely by ON2.com (the developers of VP6). The problem is, the highest quality nsvs on the net are at winamp.com where you search for the videos. Once you download them, they’re darn good videos for streaming standards. They actually compete with vcds with 40% the file size. The only problem is nsv_demux.exe nsv_Cutter etc. ont work with them.

I’ve not tested this particular last software and the instructions that you posted before them, because they involve vp6 not vp5. I’m pretty much sure they wont work with the nsvs from winamp.

Sadly, I dont have that 500 MB collection of winamp nsvs to test right now. Can you test the procedure you tol me on a winamp nsv?

On downloading winamp nsvs: -
http://p082.ezboard.com/fstreemeboxvcrfrm7.showMessage?topicID=116.topic

I’m providing good help to newbies, it seems.

Go Ahead, there’s enough info here to experiment.

Anyways, through one of your links, I found VP50. This one is only for media player though - not for TMPGenc. That’d be enough to convert nsv-wmv-mpg; but wont give me the ethical purity of single conversion. Remember that this para is just a thought, and I’ve got nothing to test them on. i’ll probabaly l something to test this juicy stuff.

I Love You.

Tried with candyshop (50 cent) at 120 kbps downloaded file. The avi is mae well, with mencoder, but its reported to be just 18 seconbds, unlike the 3:20 nsv video size. The video doesnt play at all. Best of luck for the rest of you...
