hi, my dvd player is about 6 years old and i got it when they were not very common at all. our new tv is a 50” widscreen projection made by sony and my question is if i should bother updating dvd players when the one that i have now works OK with the new tv. this dvd player is not progressive scan and i wondered if it really made a big difference or not.

Also, a question on dvd burners. is it possible, or legal for the matter, to burn a movie dvd, bought from a store with a big name movie on it, onto a blank dvd? thanks.
