dawillie Guest | My WinXP shipped with the Indeo Video Playback codec and I regrettably deleted it.
I now find I cannot open *.pps or *.jpg/jpeg files direct from source but rather have to save them to a folder and then open them
In particular when I try and open a jpeg file sent via MSN Messenger I get a message saying I need the Indeo Video playback codec.
Can someone please tell me how to accomplish this?
do i..
a. use the Windows XP Installation CD and if so what do I look for in terms of where it might be located on it?
or
b. can I download a compatible codec from this site, and if so, which one should I be using?
Apologies if this question has been asked before.
Many thanks.

JPEG is an image format - you don’t need a codec. codecs are only needed for video, and indeo would only be needed for avi files. pps is a powerpoint slideshow. if it contains a video then you might need a codec to play it too. to open pps you would need powerpoint or powerpoint viewer from microsoft.

Issue Description:

this was pasted from the message details i got from the small screen that pops up when I try and open something in 'received files'.

M8rix Guest | I used to have no problem running MM2, then I installed XP service pack 2. After the installation I had the same problem. Could SP2 be the cause instead of deletion???
