Hi everybody..

Recently I purchased a 4GB ipod. But I dont knw how to transfer the songs from my computer, these are the two ways i tried copying

1. By using MP3 player utility 4.00
2. By directly dumping the MP3 files into the
ipod. The actual problem is I can just copy 40-45 songs into the ipod, these 40-45 songs will play nicely,if i try to copy more number of songs, while playing the ipod gets restarted.

please tell me the correct procedure of copying the songs.

I’ve never owned any mp3 or mp4 player, but here it goes
1. Does your PC detect that the ipod is connected?
2. Have you tried iTunes? http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

So it’s not really an ipod. What is it then? What company is it from and what’s the name of the player?
If it’s one of the chinese clones, I’m sorry to say you may have been scammed like the thousands of others out there. It may say “4GB” when in reality it’s only 1GB or less...

Fake portable players are flooding the market (esp on ebay). It’s possible to modify the firmware so that it shows a fake size (for example 4GB instead of 250Mcool, and that’s what a lot of crooks from China are doing. I’ve read mixed opinions on whether a reformat works. Some pages say reformatting will give you the real size, others say you have to reset the firmware. It may simply depend on your model. Regardless, you’re not going to be able to store more than what’s really on the device.
It’s described here (amongst thousands of other web pages on the topic)
http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/MP3-MP4-player-apos-all-is-not-what-it-seems-apos_W0QQugidZ10000000001887432

I can only give you links on the topic, as I’ve never owned an mp3 or mp4 player. Google for more!

The moral of the story is don’t buy cheap stuff from China!
