Hi
We have a KGuard security system which plays back OK on the computer that it is attached to but when copied to DVD disk using Nero Express/Windows XP will not playback from disk on a computer remote from the system.
Windows Media Player shows “unknown error” and I have been told that I don’t have the right codec for the disk playback.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Have you attempted feeding the file into gspot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot) or avicodec (http://avicodec.duby.info) to find out what codec the files use? Does the second computer have that codec installed?

Since been informed that the codec required is PMP4 but no-one knows where to get it.

Could you tell us more about the product in use? You say it’s KGuard, but can you tell us the model number?
Also if the product came with installation cd’s or programs, it’s likely the codec is bundled in those, and was installed on the original computer but not the other (you may want to read the license agreement to see if you’re allowed to install it on a different computer). Finally I haven’t seen PMP4 as a fourcc, but I’ve seen quite a few threads about a SunPlus PMP transcoding tool. It’s possibly what you may need to convert the file to another (world-readable) format.
P.S: I found a KGuard download page http://www.kguard.com.tw/en/Download_01.asp but it won’t be much help unless you know what product you’re using (a couple of the downloads are over 100Mcool
