ok, i just baught a brand new powerbook G4 with nac os and im trying to use bittorrent and surpnova to get these files. They end up downloading but then they never work when i try to open them, there eaither blank page icons or it says the required compressor could not be found, any ideas? Thanks

I don’t know of any diagnostic tools for the mac off the top of my head, but from what people have posted on here videolan does report fourcc’s if it’s unable to play an avi file. Also mplayer (originally developed for linux, but ported to mac os x) seems to handle a wide range of video formats. Then there’s quicktime (this won’t work often with exotic video formats) - you can click on movie, then get movie properties. on the left choose video track and on the right video format. look at the line next to video format.
