CountessRae Guest | I’m using Windows Movie Maker with Windows XP SP2.
I have a .avi movie file and I want to take a short clip — less than 30 seconds — out of it. The video imports fine and plays perfectly in the preview window. I add subtitles and save my clip, and the save is successful. But when I play the video in any of my media players, there is no video — only sound and my subtitles. It was the same when I uploaded it to YouTube, so I deleted it.
I’ve downloaded the Windows XP codec pack and several .avi codecs, and I’ve tried saving the video with the different settings WMM offers, however I get the same result every time. I’ve tried using other video editing programs as well, but no luck.
I’ve found that it’s not just this movie file it does this with, it does it with other .avi’s, too. I haven’t been able to test other file types. I tried converting the entire movie file to a .mpg with a video converter, but afterwards, the video didn’t work at all.
Is it a codec problem?
Could it be a spyware/virus problem?
Are there any other ways to get this clip on the web other than what I’ve tried? |
