Hi

I have an problem with na avi file. The audio codec required to play it is tag 2000 which works fine as does the video codec. However when i convert this to an mpeg file the video decompression works fine but the sound doesn’t work. I have used gspot and no errors where reported. It appears as though the tag 2000 audio codec will not decompress. Any ideas? Cheers

I’m not as familiar with audio codecs as I am with video ones, but here’s a shot in the dark. Is the audio codec directshow instead of acm? I remember tmpgenc wouldn’t open video files with directshow codecs (as opposed to vfw codecs) unless you applied this trick described by Frightfo0in thread 754: “open TMPGEnc and go to Option>Environmental setting>VFAPI plug-in and give 'DirectShow Multimedia File Reader' a priority of 4."

And also make sure you’re doing system stream (audio + video). Elementary stream (audio + video) leaves the video and audio separated into two different files. (an m1v for video and mpa for audio for mpeg-1 for example)
