where can I get an mpeg 2 codec,

I used videotoolbox and it told me that the video codec is mpeg 2, but I can’t find any mpeg 2 codecs on the internet (hence the name).

There’s a lot of ways to play mpeg-2. You could play them with media player classic (http://www.gabest.org), videolan (http://www.videolan.org), the elecard mpeg-2 decoder (http://www.elecard.com/products/mpeg2decoder.shtml). If you get dvd software like windvd or powerdvd (which is usually pay) they’ll play mpeg-2.
If you search the net there’s tons of players and decoders out there. http://www.mpeg.org would be a good starting point though.
