I downloaded some interesting videos, and want to redub in them using video edit software and send them to my friends. I tried Windows Movie Maker, it can mute the audio of source video, and add new audio. But I really want to remove the audio from source video completely, rather than mute.
Who can kindly recommend me some software? Many thanks

Can you specify the file type of the video you’re trying to remove audio from? (If you don’t know, feed it into gspot or avicodec and find out http://www.headbands.com/gspot http://avicodec.duby.info)
If it’s MPEG, use TMPGEnc - go to file, MPEG tools, simple demultiplex (demultiplex = big fancy word for separating audio from video stream). The output will be .m1v or m2v which means mpeg video without audio, but you can rename it .mpg or .mpeg.
If it’s AVI, use VirtualDub - go to Video, pick Direct Stream Copy (VERY important, otherwise you’ll get an uncompressed AVI, which is HUGE), then go to Audio, then pick No Audio. Then file, save as AVI.
If it’s something else get back to me.

Imtoo MPEG Encoder works, if u work under Windows. After importing video files, u will find Disable Audio option in the right setting area, just check True, then the audio will be removed from the video file. moreover, it supports almost all video file formats

The only freeware tool I can think of to do that to Windows Media files is asfbin (http://www.radioactivepages.com/english/asfbin.html). I’ve only used its command-line predecessor (asfcut), so I’m not familiar with it. It shouldn’t be too hard to follow the documentation though.
