Need VCF code to Virtual Dub

Im trying to convert a .avi file in
Virtual Dub.. I get an error message that
says: “Couldn’t locate decompressor for format
'H264' Virtual Dub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video”

Help, anyone?
