"Could not make a thumbnail. Make sure you have the appropriate decoder installed. -47010”

Try this, hope it helps.

Go to:
Start
All programs
Divx
DivX codec
Decoder Configuration Utility

Uncheck the box that says “use advanced hardware overlay”

I had same problem and it seemed to coincide with trying to use DivX for something. Seems like easy solution. Does it disable anything else though ?
This thread also takes you to a download solution

Wow! Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I’ve posted this same solution on three other popular sites including Roxio
Without (so far) one single reply back letting me know if it worked for them or not.

It can be soooooooo frustrating tryin to get certain programs to work because
of incompatibility issues, and so many “experts” with dozens of long drawn out
“solutions” download this program or that codec blah, blah blah.
This is such a simple solution that we shouldn’t have to research it.
Thanks to sites like this we can share our solutions and findings.

Blondie: Does it disable anything else though?

I haven’t found in problems yet, I guess we could always
Go back and re-check the overlay if it does or uncheck
It when you need to.

Take care

I use media-convert.com quite a bit you might try it.
Just browse the file > select the output.

I’ve never used mediacoder…but you might wanna search
youtube.com for some info & tutorials.

Also check out vlc player, (in youtube) search:
“Convert Videos with VLC Media Player”
And “VLC: Player” to get an idea of how it works.

If you google search:
“So, How to convert FLV to WMV, AVI or any other format?”
It’ll lead to a page that has a step by step guide using the (vlc player) wizard.
Instead, change your setting and outputs to mpeg.

Hope one of these works for ya.

Chic, are you having trouble with the steps in post #6
Or did it not work for you? Did you find divx on your computer?
