I have a request regarding the Movies/TV/Music section

I kindof specialize in music if you havent already noticed... and i’ve seen alot of stuff that needs to be moderated on there... A LOT. Almost every thread has somthing that is highly offensive and rediculous... the racism and unnecisary high levels of cursing and flaming need to stop.

And I think I would be a really great “mini-mod” I guess you could put it because I post in that section quite alot and I watch what goes on in there.

I really want to help clean up this section and I think i’ve been here long enough to deserve a chance at helping.

I would really appreciate it if you guys let me help out. It would mean alot to me.

I know you don’t necisarily “need” any mods right now. But I see a real problem that needs to be fixed in the Movies/TV/Music section... I just want to help the best I can.

Ummmm... I Bjarne doesn’t even know about the idea yet... why is everybody acting like we’re actually looking for people for the job? I guess it means that a lot of people support the idea, maybe it’s time to present the idea to the big man himself.

Yeah... i’ve been a member for a long time and i’ve always wanted to be a mod... different people, like Baybe Chronic, that frequently post in the Movies/TV/Music section have been complaining about the crap thats been going on unnoticed and I just want to help because im really getting tired of it myself.

Well, we try to keep things under control but we’re not going to check every thread for issues. That’s why we always ask the members to inform us of posts and members who are causing trouble. By doing so you help is out with the process of helping you.

I go to all 4 MISC. sections, i don’t post, but i do go there, and i have to agree with DS117, it gets pretty bad in there.

If it gets so bad, then why aren’t we informed? That’s what I’d like to know. The reasons these situations get out of control is because we don’t catch them when they begin. The question I purpose to you two is this, if you guys don’t do your best to get these situations under control now, how can we trust you to do it if you obtain power? Keep in mind that even if you do become a mini mod you’ll still have to report to normal mods for large things such as the deleting of threads and banning of members. How can we be sure you’ll actually do that if you don’t come to us now?

I’m not jumping on either of your cases, so please don’t think that I am. I just want you to understand that a large part in any recommendations I give to Bjanre (if the idea takes flight) will be if they’ve helped the site before by telling us of rules being broken.

it does get reported sometimes, the thing, however, is that there are so many problems at once you can’t really say “This guy did that” or “This member did this”.

When a topic is made about it the mods go in but they don’t get everything, because the mess is so huge at times.

That’s why you send us a PM with a link to the thread and post numbers that that we CAN get it all. You know, it’s sad. They say there are big problems in that section and yet today is the first time I’ve heard such a thing.

It’s the topics too, some topics have racism written in the topic name, right there in open view, and yet they don’t get changed/locked/deleted.

I think we need someone to take charge of that area.

And i don’t go into topics, i just check out any topics that may interest me (which they don’t) and then i leave and go somewhere else.

it seems... to me, to be the mods blind spot IMO.

I don’t have a problem with any of the mods or anything like that... I just figured that since im in the movies/tv/music section as much as I am that it would be easier for me to recognize and deal with the crap that goes on.

no im talking about in the ICP threads when people say fuck like 3 times a sentence and just cuss so much that its rediculous and annoying...

I mean I say fuck every once in a while. But not more than once in a post.

I do check the section, but much like yourself I only check the threads that interest me there, mostly because a majority of the threads involved rap and personally it’s my least favorite genre of music. So I don’t check those threads very often, but overall I am active in the section I DO take care of any issues I see. In fact recently I banned a member in the section for calling people gay and telling kids to go type “hentai” into google.

Well, I don’t think we can do anything about the word 'fuck' being used that much. Hell, we have a member who’s name has the word in it like 5 times.

I agree with Cid. There seems to be very few members who actually PM the Mods about the problems that arise.

I have had several members PM me about problems they have seen and I have promptly taken care of them.

I try to check any suspicious threads for rule breaches and I also keep a eye out in the threads I like too, but if you (the members of MVC) see any breaches, Please PM us so we an take care of it.
