I just bought and installed a dvd burner, it came with Nero. I have movies that I have downloaded in both MPEG and AVi formats. What do I need to do to get these files converted to be burned onto a DVD to be played on a regular DVD player?

I just purchased a Sony Vaio with Media Center(MCE) 2005. I am really new to this so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
When I record a movie (from my cable company) onto the hard drive through the MCE it says that the movie is “copy protected” and it won’t let me burn to DVD. I have the Adobe Premier LE software as well as Sony’s “Click to DVD” software. Is there any way around the copy protection? Thanks!!

Hi
I have been trying to backup new DVDs on a pioneer A06/106 to save them from the kids

Every time the playback pauses, pixellates etc.

Have tried AnyDVD, Alcohol 120%, Nero Express, Clone DVD 2, DVDShrink, upgrading firmware to current 1.08, changing to new media, burning at slowest 2X speed and STILL get the pauses etc.

If I preview the compressed/selected video file on PC they run nice and clean - its the burn that fails..

any ideas on where to go/what to do next would be really appreciated

Thanks

I’ve been able to convert mpg and avi files into formats that are supported by DVD players. My problem is that I do not know how to burn them so that they can actually work on a DVD disc. I have a DVD burner but when I burn the DVD format video, it reads it is a data disc and does not work in a DVD player.

What could be the problem?

Note: I have the BenQ external DVD burner and I’ve been using DVD-RW 4.7 GB dvd’s.

I downloaded a movie and the quality and sound are great. I burnt the movie using Roxio DVD builder and when I play it in my DVD player the sound pops through the whole movie.....Any reason why or how I can fix it?

Thanks in Advance

Thought I would reply to myself for the benefit of other newbies to DVD copy/backup

It turns out that switching from DVD+R to DVD-R media produces movies that can be watched on both my JVC and X-Box DVD players.

All the DVD+R movies I threw away as bad burns can actually be played on other peoples players... so remember to try different burn and media options.

Similarly switching from TDK to Imation CR-R media fixed the skipping on my car stereo.

I beg to differ. Ulead DVD MovieFactory is a good program (that’s an undrestatement - it’s excellent, except for resizing problems), but it’s not beginner friendly. In fact it’s created by professionals for professionals.
I can tell you at least ten programs that are beginner friendly, and cost 1/3 - AnyDVD, DVD95Copy, CopyDVD 2, DVD Cloner II, etc., etc.
I highly recommend using either dvdSanta (which has some cool options like creating DVD slideshows and costs twenty bucks - http://www.deprice.com/dvdsanta2.htm )
or DVDFab Express

I have a full (bought) copy of Ulead Moviefactory 4.0 and so far really only have one issue. Normally, when I imput any of the downloaded video files into it they fit within a certain space and area that on the predesignated LP mode can go up to three hours in length.

For some reason, though, I am trying to create a DVD with files downloaded of the tv show LOST. DVD Moviefactory, no matter how I try to work it, NEVER allows more than one and a half hours ofplay time. The files are 350 megs each, but that shouldn’t have anything to do with it because I have done the same thing with files of the same size and three hours worth have fit before.

I really want to know how to fix this, I keep tweaking the settings to see if that helps and it never does...please help me!!!

When I burn files, for example video files, errors occur very frequently during data verification and I am unable to read the disc later. This problem happens to many different brands of DVD-Rs.

I am using Nero Express 6, and my DVD drive is Sony DVD RW DRU-720A. I have tried burning at the lowest speed possible as well, but the problem still seemed to persist.

Any possible explanations?

Thanks!

I have Ulead’s Movie Factory 4 Disc Creator. I tried to make a DVD out of an AVI file I downloaded from the internet. But it wouldn’t burn on the DVD, it said 'target device may have problems', then 'failed to record data to the disc'. I tried twice, using a DVD+R and a DVD+RW disc and got the same error for both. My DVD burner is a RICOH and it works with DVD+RW when I use Nero to burn data. Does U-Lead not support the + DVD format, and should I use the DVD-R or -RW?

Thanks smiley
