problem with avi files and ogg vorbis codec

i have several avi files that uses the audio codec mpeg layer 3, but after i install the ogg vorbis audio codec..the file thinks it is encoded with ogg vorbis and not mpeg3..even when i delete off vorbis it is still like that n i cannot open the file because it just says unsupported format..does anyone know how to fix that?
