KVCD is usually MPEG-1 and you shouldn’t have trouble using VideoLan, Media Player Classic, or the like. Are you trying to read the KVCD from your CD-ROM drive, or are you reading it as an image file off your hard disk? (or is it just a video that has KVCD in its filename?) If from CD-ROM drive, can you read other CD-ROMs all right? If it’s a file with KVCD in the name, what’s the extension? Could it be an archive (.rar or .zip), or maybe in a different format? (Sometimes people will put stuff like DVD or DivX to indicate the source of file - but they actually converted it to another format). Finally did you feed the file into a tool like gspot or avicodec to find out what it’s made of?
