Nero Saying Files Are Bigger Than What They Are?

Hello,

I went to burn some .avi files today that my computer says are 185mb but when I drop them into Nero (Vision) it tells me each file is almost 1gb in size?

I should be able to get 12 files on a dvd disc but with this it would only be half of that.

Why would it do this?
