I have a question for you-anyone who can help me! I have done numerous
posts and searches and have not resolved my problem. My system is Windows
XP Professional with a gig of ram. I have installed the latest xvid codec
1.02 from Koepi and all of the following codecs:

Cinepak, Divx 5.2, indeo 5.1.1, ir41_32.ax, iyuv_32.dll, Microsoft RLE
Codec, Microsoft Video 1, Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 VCM, msh261,
msh263, MS-Mpeg -4 Video codec, msyuc.dll, tsbyuv.dll and the Xvid Mpeg-4
Video Codec.

When I play some avi videos I get these green and pink lines at the bottom
of the screen. I get these green and pink lines using Media player 9, Divx
player or whatever. I only get them of some avi movies-not all. I have
used Gspot to test the video and it tells me I have everything I need but I
still run into this problem. I have a link below that you can go to and
view the 3 second Xvid video in Media Player and my problem is exactly like
this example when I play this test video. Does anyone have any help for me?

Try the link below and run the Xvid test-what did you get? Did you get
Green on the bottom as well? That is what some of my videos do! Please
help me out!

Thank you for taking your time and helping out.

Well first make sure each codec is handling the fourcc’s it’s supposed to handle and no other.
Go to your start menu programs, find xvid, then open 'configure decoder'. all the boxes should be unchecked (especially all the ones under fourcc support).
Next do the same with divx. Go to your start menu programs, find divx, divx codec, then open 'decoder configuration utility'. Under Quality Settings uncheck support generic mpeg-4 then click apply.

Now for the testing part. Go to the divx configurator, again under quality settings. uncheck smooth playback and check yuv extended mode. Then click apply and try playing your files. If it doesn’t work keep toggling with the checks in those boxes. Some combination should work.
One last thing you can try is disabling hardware acceleration during playback. Go to your display properties (right click anywhere on ur desktop and choose properties), then go to settings, advanced, troubleshooting. then pull the bar all the way to the left and click apply. test your video. don’t forget to slide it back to the right after you’re done testing. disabling hardware acceleration slows ur system considerably.
