can't play any movies with sound

Hi, I recently wiped out my computer’s memory and had to start over from scratch. So I downloaded everything: divx, xvid, klite codec pack, latest version of directx, latest version of Windows Media Player. Yet I still can’t play any movie files with sound. With all of them, the video comes through fine, but there’s no audio. Regardless of whatever type of movie file it is. Is there anything I’m missing?

Perosnally I’d get rid of all your installed codecs and download and install Nimo codec pack (http://nimo.titanesk.com/modules/freecontent/index.php?id=1) It’s a free all in one wonder codec pack that sorts every thing out in one go.

To play your films use BSPlayer (http://www.bsplayer.org/) It’s free and bloody good I have neaver had problems playing media files with BSplayer.

Then If all else fails use G-Spot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/) It’s free and what this program does is tests the media file to see if it’s faulty and even tells you what codecs you need to play the file and gives you likns to download it.
