Help! Avi-Mpeg-KVCD

Hey,
I was wondering if someone could help me. I am using TMPGEnc to encode .avi files to .mpg files. Everything seems to work correctly, but then I open nero, and start a kvcd, and it when it is through, the sound is very choppy, and the people sound like chimpmunks. I have the sound codec I needed, atleast that is what someone told me. I even checked all the settings of my tmpgenc to make sure they were the same as someone elses that was working correctly, and they were. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am running out of ideas.
