Mea Guest | I just spent three days trying to get an AVI file to work on my mac. I downloaded every possible codec I could think of, but none of them work. I checked the AVI and it said I was missing something called 3IVD. I’ve never heard of this before. When I tried looking for it, I couldn’t find anything. Can anyone please help me?

FrightfoO Guest | Haven’t heard of 3IVD, but there is DIV3 (aka DivX 3.11a).
No matter though, I’d just use 3ivX (www.3ivx.com). This should be able to be run on your Mac. It will decode both DivX and XviD content.
Other options include using a media player that uses its own filters such as - VideoLAN (www.videolan.org), and/or, maybe - MPlayer:

I have a silly rank Rep: 33 Joined: 03 Nov 2003 Posts: 1,266 | Apparently, it is indeed a FOURCC used by the 3ivx mpeg4 implementation (which I added to moviecodec.com just now):
