I just bought this computer and I have windows vista. I downloaded some old family videos and it comes up with that it cannot be run because of a missing codec. i went to the microsoft help and it came up with this. Intel IMA ADPCM (11) codec. I’m not computer savy but i’ve been looking up the audio codecs and i don’t seem to understand. I would really appreciate it if someone can help out.

Turbo Guest | I’ve been messing with this and you must be careful with codecs. Vista Media Center will not allow program to run with XP. Media Player 11 will not work because it’s an old version to Vista. Quicktime 7 doesn’t work. The only program I found that does work on Vista is DivX player

computerfunGUEST Guest | If oyu have this problem where you can view you video files and it says missing codecs. Well, I have a solution, maybe. If you are using Windows Vista, well use “Windows Movie Maker” and import the mvie file into the folder. Then play to see if it works. If it does, drag the file to “video” NOT “AUDIO/MUSIC”. After you done that click file and click “Publish Movie”.

Hello,I have a windows vista. I downloaded videos to my computer and place them in a program called picasa2.when i try to burn them to dvd it says that im missing a audio codec. its an intel imaadpcm[11] for windows with a 32 bit system.please help i’m not computer smart.

chevyboy Guest | i have same problem on new laptop, did not find any good info on audio codecs..... But i found and downloaded VLC media player and i use that to open videos and play them. works perfect. this media player plays asf files.

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 29 Apr 2008 Posts: 1 OFFLINE | Here is another quick fix which I just stumbled upon:
Go to Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices.
Click the Hardware tab.
Go to (double-click or select and choose Properties) Audio Codecs.
Select the Properties tab.
Double-click (or click on and click the Properties button for) imaadp32.acm.
Make sure 'Use this audio codec' is selected.
Several of my audio codecs were set to 'Do not use this audio codec', which was my problem in hearing audio from files downloaded from my digital camera.
