UBER 1337 Poster Rep: 2  Joined: 27 Sep 2006 Posts: 1,118 OFFLINE | Whew, that was spooky. My parents and I were driving home from church, and I was riding shotgun when all of a sudden a spire of cloud just started descending about 3-4 miles right in front of us. At first I was in slight shock since there had been no alert for severe weather for Lubbock, but that changed quick as I watched the funnel touch the ground and slightly widen.
So, we raced home, prepped a closet in case the shit hit the fan, and just sat back and waited. The storm front is just lifting now and there’s only been minor damage reports, but this is really my first eyewitness experience with a tornado.
I did have a disposable camera with me and snapped a picture too little too late as it disappeared behind a building that obscured it for a few minutes. But to give a clearer idea to you guys of what I saw, I’d say this is about what it looked like, only about twice as far away-
So, right now, I’m just enjoying the next breath of fresh air....as well as praising God for keeping me and my family safe.

Scary stuff, that. ---

Shoulda snapped it on the highway. And GR, it lasted I don’t know how long....we had a good sight on it for about five minutes.
