when real alternative is downloaded it doesn't run

I have downloaded real alternative (codec) and meadia player classic. when i try to run real alternative an error pops up with " unable to execute file in temporary directory. Setup aborted.
Error 2:the system cannot find the file specified."

is this becuase i have to download it to a aspecial location? the thing should have an installer right? any comments or help is appreciated

I too got this error msg when using my Windows2000 PC. I tracked the fault down to Webroot’s SpySweeper running at boot up of the PC, and thus always executing in memory.
Check you have no anti spyware remove programs executing at start up. It looks as if they might be blocking install and uninstall’s for some reason??
Note. I don’t see this error on any other Windows OS installation, when using the SpySweeper program?

I had the same problem when trying to install new programs to Win200 Professional.

Your solution worked.I shut down Spy sweeper and was able to install programs.
