While he does need the Chaos Emeralds, there has been no use of rings for normal Sonic in the story lines, let alone Super Sonic. Oh and I bet I could name quite a few fictional characters that would destroy Link. I have yet to see(Though I haven’t seen a whole lot of Link outside Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Bros) or hear of anything Link could do to keep up with Sonic’s speed.

he can put on the bunny hood to make him self faster or slow down sonic with the ocarina of time

So? First off does the Bunny Hood allow Link to break the sound barrier? Secondly Sonic has had some time manipulation abilities too. Such as travel through time like in Sonic CD and Sonic the Hedgehog for the next gen. He could also use Time Break which slows down time or the Red Gem which slows down time for everything but him. On top of all that, Chaos Control is probably the most advance time manipulation technique that he has.
