Editing Problem

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this, but when I drag videos into the timeline and preview it, the videos don’t use DivX. But when I preview the video in the collections, DivX is present and the video runs smoothly without blurring. How do I fix this?

Also, when I start in the middle of the timeline, the video lags (and the audio doesn’t play in the correct time) and the time displayed is not accurate. When I save this as a movie file and view it, it becomes extremely slow and stalls every 3 seconds. Is there a codec I need to download to synchronize everything?
