Hello. I have a problem with my Movie Maker v.2. I can open it, but after a few seconds it freezes and the screen zigzags, or it disappears like I had never opened the program in the first place. I tried reinstalling it, but it just made it worse.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? Can anyone help fix it?

The error message reads:

EventType : BEX P1 : moviemk.exe P2 : 2.0.3312.0 P3 : 3e038613
P4 : comctl32.dll P5 : 6.0.2900.2982 P6 : 44ef1b33 P7 : 0004e967
P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000

I had exactly the same problem you had, and I just solved it. Here is what I have done.

Since the problem lies in Version 2.0xxx and Microsoft says that the verion 2.1xxx comes with XP SP2, I decided to find where this package is located and to reinstall it.

1. Find moviemk.inf in C:\Windows\inf Directory.

2. Right-click on it and select “Install”.

3. Install Procedure will start and ask you to input the location of the install file, “moviemk.exe”.

4. Now, you need to know where the file is located. I used Start -> Search for the file. and you know what? I have found that there are 2.0x and 2.1x both in my system. 2.1x is located in C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386.

5. Back to Step 3, you input the location of 2.1x moviemk.exe and continue Installation.

6. Once it’s done, the problem is gone now and forever.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mr. Kwang Yeol Lee - Robert. I was in the middle of working on a long video when MM2 began to crash. Your fix seems to have resolved the issue.

Again, thank you for sharing. It is much appreciated.
