Bushinichi Tawara Guest | I’ve tried this solution. It didn’t work.
My guess is the directx versions wich they tested the games with (meaning OOOOLd versions) supported adpcm files. Maybe newer Dx vers. (8.0 - 9.0c) don’t come with a straight compatibility for this kind of ADPCM.
Note : I installed both MS ADPCM & MS IMA ADPCM codec drivers as Marco suggested in a thread some time ago. The annoying error msg is still there.
On my knees begging 4 help.

Bigio Guest | I installed both MS ADPCM & MS IMA ADPCM codec drivers too, but still the system does not support ADCPM files from many games (Chain, Come to see me tonight, Snow drop and others...)
If someone knows solutions, please share.

Mokkori Guest | Ok, here we go.
Chances are you’ve installed WinXP SP2. The culprits are two “updated” ADPCM codecs (imaadp32.acm and msadp32.acm) located in C:\Windows\System32 and marked as versions 5.1.xxxx (for the novices, WinXP is WinNT 5.1). For some reason they won’t work with many Japanese games anymore.
You have to back up those “new” codecs (just rename them) and replace them with versions 5.0.xxxx from Win2000 (aka WinNT 5.0). You’ll have to find those on the net. Or you could simply try with the default codecs from your WinXP CD, it should work but be sure they’re not coming from a Service Pack. In any case, don’t try any version prior to 5.0.xxxx!

Super_leo Guest | Thank you guys I finally can play h games with voices yey. What Mokkori wrote is right that in WinXP files “imaadp32.acm” and “msadp32.acm” (which are in system32 folder) has to be replaced by older versions. Links added by Thankful doesnt work for me so i found them here:
Imaadp32.acm ==> http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/4/4889.htm
Msadp32.acm ==>
http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/4/4890.htm
These are drivers from win98/95 ver. 4.0.0.950. Anyway when I replaced only “Imaadp32.acm” the voices in H Games started working . Oh and before i replaced them I installed the adpcm drivers “step by step” as Marco wrote in here http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/2018p1.html.
Enjoy the H Games .

H-Arms Guest | Okay,
I am running Windows 98 and get the message:
“There will be no voice or because the system does not support DirectSound. Do you wish to continue (Code = 1:0)"
I’ve tried the above, replacing the two driver files imaadp32.acm and Msadp32.acm. I tried this on a WinXP machine, and it worked. However, I don’t even see these two files on my my Win98 machine. What do I do?

El colectivo BORG Guest | What all of you are suffering is the “G-collections Sindrom” , G-Collection games needs the USA languaje version the IMAADP32.ACM file.If your version isn’t from USA, there’s a high chance that the game will complain about ADMPC at start.
Just make a search for that file and when you’ve found it, right click on it to check its propierties and check the Version tab, see?, You need to replace the file with an USA languaje equivalent.
For W95,98,98SE and ME the file is at C:\windows\system
and for 2000/XP is at
C:\windows\system32

DoomMaster Guest | Great! Thank you!
I have Windows 2000, and I did not feel that it would be OK to use files from Windows 98. So, I replaced the file
imaadp32.acm, version 5.0.2195.6612, Russian
with the file from Windows 2000 English setup CD
imaadp32.acm, version 5.0.2134.1, English
and it solved the problem.
One last note, I had to unpack the file using a command like this:
expand imaadp32.ac_ imaadp32.acm
