1)open winRAR
2)click “add” from command line
3)select files downloaded from torrent - tried “select all” and tried single file (some are winRAR archive,avi,R38)
4)“extract” -I get a pop up window that shows updating progress and new file is added. Properties on this file show “type R31”, “opens with windows media player”
But it won’t play with WMP and I can’t convert to AVI.
Normally I only download AVI and don’t have this problem, but so many torrent are RAR I felt I should learn the process. Obviously I’m dumber than I thought. Can you help? It will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

say you have a torrent that is comprised of 38 rar files labeled R01-R38.
Right-click on the first in the sequence eg R01 and when the pop up box comes up, go down to extract files and click on it. It will extract the files in sequence that belong in
that archive. Tadah. now where the rar file was located there will now be a new folder in that same place. this contains the newly extracted RAR file which is the contents of whatever the rar contained. In this case I’m guessing a movie or audio file.
If you run into any problems I will put up some screen shots on how to do it step by step.
Note: sometimes the file will not be in a folder and may just be sitting in the same location. It will have the same name as the RAR archive so it isn’t too hard to find. just look in the same folder. By default, it is normally located right down the bottom, being the newest file added it should be the very last file in that folder when you scroll down. ---

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 12 Mar 2007 Posts: 3 OFFLINE | I’ve selected file r00 and extracted. It becomes another folder which, when opened (double click)appears to be AVI. But when on I click it to open (AVI) a message appears that says “you need the following volume to continue extracting,r01”.
Also a diagnostic message pops open which says “you need to start unpacking from a previous volume”. (r00 is the lowest there is in 29 files)
I thought maybe my download was bad so I downloaded another torrent. Same thing is happening.
I’m about at wits end!! | |

I got it to work. Did every thing the same but created new folder on desktop to “extract to...". I don’t know why this worked but am glad it does. Using winAVI converter I can now create DVD to watch on TV.Hope I didn’t cause too much trouble for you. Thanks a bunch. I appreciate this forum and all the help.
