I agree with rexblaze. AVI/MPEG/ASF/WMV Splitter from www.download.com has been useful for me. I just successfully used it to fast forward one of my videos. I also successfully used Windows Media Encoder to repair this video. Actually, Windows Media Encoder can solve various problems, and it’s free at www.download.com. Good luck everyone.

bladezhelper Guest | By the way, I chose “Convert a file” in Windows Media Encoder. In Windows Media Encoder, I also lowered the audio and video settings or else Windows Media Encoder takes a long time and creates a new video that’s too big.

moe Guest | Thank you CB - it worked for me too!
I also had trouble editing my WMV in Vegas 5 - the video only showed a black screen. After the conversion, i am able to edit the clip, fast-forward, rewind, etc.
All because of those few crucial seconds in the beginning....
Thanks again....great solution. Also thanks to Ali for the WM File Editor pointer.

bladezhelper Guest | For my videos that can’t fast forward, my AVI/MPEG/ASF/WMV Splitter actually only fast forwards for short videos under 5 minutes long. Do you have the same problem, rexblaze?

gdawg Guest | man, i thought this was going to work, and it seemed like it was, but then i opened the file and forgot it was digitally protected, so windows file editor won’t let me open the file in the editor. any other suggestions?
